I'm extremely glad to say that today's update's gone smoothly and that both the Events and FAQs modules are already available.

If you already have an account, feel free to check them out right this moment. If you're still hesitant, sign up now and fiddle with them as much as you can... for free!

They look pretty cool indeed if we may say so ourselves, however if you spot any funky stuff going on with any of the modules that we may have overlooked please let us know and we will get on top of it immediately.

Can't wait anymore to see what the new modules look like? Check our demo sites to get an idea of what the modules look like in action... enjoy!

As some of you reported, things have been really quiet around here lately, mainly because the whole team has been working their fingers off coding, designing and waving their magic wand to bring you the next modules on the list.

Well, I'm glad to say that we already have a launch date for both the Events and FAQs modules... so make sure to access your content managers as of next Wednesday (September 19) and give these modules a try!

So as to keep the nuisance level to a minimum we will temporarily close access to Inserit's content manager on September 19 from 8am through 11am (GMT+1). I know, three hours is a heck of a time but we will most definitely be done way before then, it's just nicer to finish off sooner than expected than keep our users waiting around. We'll post a message once we are done publishing all updates.

Together with the modules we will also be publishing nice updates to the existing modules so, for example, starting on Wednesday you'll be able to easily sort your albums in the Image Gallery module by just dragging and dropping them around.

Stay tuned to new major updates!

As some of you already know, we were obliged to close down the Inserit forums yesterday as a temporary measure due to constant spam attacks till we find better and less time-consuming ways of fighting 'human bots' (i.e. people that take the necessary time to fill out any profile form appropriately and then start cramming the forums with all type of junk).

We are really sorry about any inconvenience this may cause but rest assured we will reopen them soon. In the meantime, any comments or questions about Inserit can be addressed to support[at]inserit[dot]com, drop us a line we'll be glad to help!

It's taken a little bit longer than we expected but the Image Gallery module is finally available... curious about what it looks like? Check out our demo site here.

For those of you with already existing trial and subscription accounts, don't worry a bit -- just access your accounts as usual and you'll notice the Image Gallery module is already sitting on your left side menu... that's it, it's all yours to start playing with!

Just a quick note on how to get started, just as you did with the News module you'll first need to integrate this new module into your web editor. To do so, click on "Integrate modules" on the left side menu and then pick your choice.

Since you can totally customize your Image Gallery, it's up to you only to decide the level of sophistication you want to give it. It'd be a good idea to check the Image Gallery guide located under the Image Gallery section to get to know the lowdowns of each component.

For those of you who don't have an account just yet, go ahead and sign up to try all our available modules 30 days for free, no credit card or billing info required!

And don't forget to drop a vote on our poll (on the right hand side of the screen), we're constantly working on new modules and would certainly love to know which ones you'd like to get first!

Yay, we are all curling our toes with excitement! It finally looks like our Image Gallery module is undergoing its last tweaks and will be out in the open during this week.

This is certainly the module that's been getting more votes on our blog poll and causing more expectation and I can safely say you won't be deceived. Here's some of the features it includes:

- Last Published Images
. Let users check the most recent images with a single click.

- List of Tags
. Assign tags to your images and make it easier for visitors to find what they came in looking for.

- Tag Cloud
. Yep, you read it right. What would an image gallery be without one of these? Visitors will be able to pick the tag they're interested in and view all its assigned images.

- RSS Feed
. Let users grab your feed and stay tuned to recent publications.

If you wanna know what the Image Gallery is all about check its full description here. We'll be adding this new module to all existing subscription and trial accounts so don't worry about a thing, as soon as we launch it you'll find it sitting on your content manager's left menu ready for you to start using it.

Ladies and gents... **drum roll background sound** let me introduce the gorgeous News module to all of you!

Even though it's taken a bit longer than what we promised I can safely say that as of today it's already sitting on our home page waiting for you to check it out. Feel free to give it a try and grab your FREE 30-days trial now!

Don't worry about a thing, no credit card or billing details required... if you don't like what you see, turn around and leave. The best thing that could happen to you is that we could actually make your life easier. Dare to give it a try?

All through this week we've been asked over and over again about the exact date we were finally launching our first modules (since, as some of you may recall I personally announced in our last post we were releasing the very first module of many to come this week)... we have no excuse to be running late but the fact of being a bunch of obsessive nitpickers. We do apologize about that. So I assumed to make it up to all of you I'd post some pics of the whole team working its bones off.

The good news is we do have an official launch date so be ready to start using the News module on Wednesday (June 20th, 2007)... yep, THIS Wednesday! Because of this we will have to close the access to Inserit's content manager from 1pm through 4pm (GMT+1). The rest of the web services will remain intact and so all your blog contents will be displayed as usual.

We are really sorry about the delay and to prove it here's some pics to have a laugh at.

Update: Inseritcentral is back open again. I'm happy to say everything's gone smoothly and we're now celebrating it with a nice ice cream :) Thanks all of you for bearing with us!

The first subscription modules, that is.

I'm extremely glad to say that starting next week we'll be launching our first module of many to come -- 18 to be exact.

The first one to pop its little head out will be the News module closely followed by the Image Gallery, Events and FAQs modules.

The long wait is finally over and we must thank all of you who've been patient enough to stay around waiting for this announcement.

If you're interested in getting to know how the whole thing is going to work, here's our deal:

All users will be able to try all currently available modules free of charge for 30 days. No credit card or billing info required, we just want you to check us out and play around with the modules. If you like what you see and feel like Inserit can be of some help to you, you'll be able to sign up through a subscription form. If, on the other hand, you don't like us simply cancel your account. No hard feelings attached.

For those of you that choose to subscribe, Inserit will be offering 3 different subscription plans according to the modules you're interested in. As of next week, we'll only have the first plan available but as we keep on launching new modules we'll open the rest of plans.

All new upcoming modules will be added to existing accounts totally free of charge. We could have waited to have the first 9 modules included within the "Go Smurfie" plan ready before launching but since we've been getting a constant flow of emails requesting some of the first modules to come (mainly the News and Image Gallery modules) we opted to make them available on a "first finished, first served" basis. :)

So stay tuned to new releases next week!

The last couple of weeks have been great for both Inserit and Inblogit, and it's all been because of you guys! So this post is for all of you who have taken a liking at us and have decided to help us spread the word...

Last week we decided to submit Inserit to the Startup 2.0 Awards and even though we were not amongst the selected finalists it certainly helped us make ourselves known amongst the web design community boosting both visits and registrations.

We want to thank all of you who have taken the time and effort to write a review, be it in Turkish, Spanish (twice!), German, or Italian.

Inblogit's been also posted on "101 Essential Freelancing Resources" and "The freelancer's toolset: 100 Web Apps for Everything You Will Possibly Need", feel free to check them out!

PS. We're possibly missing on some other reviews so we apologize in advance if we missed yours!

Yay, choc overdose!
Yay, choc overdose!
It looks like it was yesterday when we released our free blog module but it's actually been 3 and a half months already. Man, did they fly by!

During these 3 months a lot of stuff has happened and there's been quite a good amount of rushing around but the best part of it all has definitely been all of you guys. We've been so concentrated in releasing new features for our blog and improving the content manager that it almost passed unnoticed there were already 1,500 people around the globe using our blog. OK, that's not a whole lot but it's a nice start and it's just great to know that so many people trust us.

Needless to say, there was a cake and one too many toasts... I've posted a shot of the cake before and after and a pic of myself for you to make fun of.

More pics of the rest of the crew to follow, so stay tuned! :)

Due to some improvements to our dedicated servers we'll be temporarily closing www.inseritcentral.com tonight at around 7pm (GMT+1). We'll rush to get it over and done with in the minimum amount of time so as to squeeze any inconveniences this may cause.

Thanks for bearing with us during this time, to make it up to you I'll be posting a funny freeby tomorrow... gotta promise you won't laugh though!

This is just a quick note to let you know that to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings with existing folders you may have, we've renamed the bin folder you downloaded together with the rest of blog files during the configuration process. So, to make things easier, we've named it "inblogit".

This change only affects users who downloaded the free blog module PHP files prior to today and now decide to use one of our templates. If that's you, don't worry, just rename the bin folder you downloaded during the configuration process to inblogit and you'll be all set.

Drop me a line at support@inserit.com if you have any questions!

We've been working insanely these last weeks to release a whole bunch of nice blog functionalities -some of them you asked for and the rest are our share- and I can finally say that they're all out, happily sitting on your content manager and wriggling their little legs :)

Here's a breakdown of them all:
  • Search-engine friendly URLs: we've received a lot (and by that we mean a lot) of emails asking for this one. Friendly URLS are clean, short and descriptive addresses instead of the commonly widespread gibberish of numbers and letters.

Wanna know how they can improve your blog? Well, to start with most search engines will not index any addresses containing question marks or any other characters of the kind, so friendly URLs allow for search engine indexability. They also promote usability and improve user experience since they're way easier to remember and to type.

To set friendly URLs for your blog simply access your content manager, go to General Settings and check the "Enable friendly URLs" box.

Then all that's left to do is click on the "Download friendly URLs file" and publish this file to your site's root.
  • RSS improvements: you can now include a customized title, description and image for your blog to be displayed via RSS. To do so, access the content manager, go to General Settings and fill out the fields under the "RSS Configuration" section.
  • Lightbox effect for images: images with a lightbox effect overlay the current page when clicked on while displaying a shadowy effect. By placing the pointer over the image readers can browse the images gallery-like in full view. To set a lightbox effect, access your content manager, go to General Settings and check the "Enable lightbox for images" box. That simple!
  • General blog pimping: we gave the content manager a general face lift by refining some of the existing features. But I'd rather not ramble on about it and have you check it out for yourself! *wink wink*
We'll be adding some other new stuff but for now I think we can concentrate hardly on getting some full modules ready to launch. So come on, drop us a vote on our roadmap and tell us which modules you'd like to see first ... be nice, I just wrote this wrist-breaking post for you! :)

This is a short message to let you all know that we'll be temporarily restricting access to the content manager area (www.inseritcentral.com) today to upgrade it with a bunch of nice features. Don't worry, the closure won't last more than an hour.

Wait for my post later on today to get to know all the new features but as a sweet titbit ... do the words friendly URLs and lightbox effect sound familiar to you? :)

I'll keep you updated!

We've been working hard these last weeks to launch some cool improvements relating our free blog module and so I'm extremely proud to inform you that we'll be releasing them today.

As cool as that is I'm afraid that implies that all access to the content manager will be temporarily closed till we're done implementing the changes. Please bear with us, we promise you won't regret it!

So what's this whole thing about? Well, we've improved the blog configuration process hopefully making it even more intuitive than before.

Next time you access your account you'll notice some variations relating the side menu. We've improved the content manager's functionality by adding a templates section from where you'll be able to give a new look to your template as well as a direct link to view your blog. There's some more new stuff but I'd rather you checked it out for yourself.

Though our moms constantly remind us how perfect we are we know that's (partially) not true so any comments/suggestions are more than welcome. Please report any bug you encounter so we can smash its ugly and hairy rear.

And now that you're at it, drop a vote on our roadmap poll!
