We've been working insanely these last weeks to release a whole bunch of nice blog functionalities -some of them you asked for and the rest are our share- and I can finally say that they're all out, happily sitting on your content manager and wriggling their little legs :)
Here's a breakdown of them all:
- Search-engine friendly URLs: we've received a lot (and by that we mean a lot) of emails asking for this one. Friendly URLS are clean, short and descriptive addresses instead of the commonly widespread gibberish of numbers and letters.
Wanna know how they can improve your blog? Well, to start with most search engines will not index any addresses containing question marks or any other characters of the kind, so friendly URLs allow for search engine indexability. They also promote usability and improve user experience since they're way easier to remember and to type.
To set friendly URLs for your blog simply access your content manager, go to General Settings and check the "Enable friendly URLs" box.
Then all that's left to do is click on the "Download friendly URLs file" and publish this file to your site's root.
- RSS improvements: you can now include a customized title, description and image for your blog to be displayed via RSS. To do so, access the content manager, go to General Settings and fill out the fields under the "RSS Configuration" section.
- Lightbox effect for images: images with a lightbox effect overlay the current page when clicked on while displaying a shadowy effect. By placing the pointer over the image readers can browse the images gallery-like in full view. To set a lightbox effect, access your content manager, go to General Settings and check the "Enable lightbox for images" box. That simple!
- General blog pimping: we gave the content manager a general face lift by refining some of the existing features. But I'd rather not ramble on about it and have you check it out for yourself! *wink wink*
We'll be adding some other new stuff but for now I think we can concentrate hardly on getting some full modules ready to launch. So come on, drop us a vote on our roadmap and tell us which modules you'd like to see first ... be nice, I just wrote this wrist-breaking post for you! :)
