This is just a quick note to let you know that to avoid unnecessary misunderstandings with existing folders you may have, we've renamed the bin folder you downloaded together with the rest of blog files during the configuration process. So, to make things easier, we've named it "inblogit".

This change only affects users who downloaded the free blog module PHP files prior to today and now decide to use one of our templates. If that's you, don't worry, just rename the bin folder you downloaded during the configuration process to inblogit and you'll be all set.

Drop me a line at support@inserit.com if you have any questions!

We've been working insanely these last weeks to release a whole bunch of nice blog functionalities -some of them you asked for and the rest are our share- and I can finally say that they're all out, happily sitting on your content manager and wriggling their little legs :)

Here's a breakdown of them all:
  • Search-engine friendly URLs: we've received a lot (and by that we mean a lot) of emails asking for this one. Friendly URLS are clean, short and descriptive addresses instead of the commonly widespread gibberish of numbers and letters.

Wanna know how they can improve your blog? Well, to start with most search engines will not index any addresses containing question marks or any other characters of the kind, so friendly URLs allow for search engine indexability. They also promote usability and improve user experience since they're way easier to remember and to type.

To set friendly URLs for your blog simply access your content manager, go to General Settings and check the "Enable friendly URLs" box.

Then all that's left to do is click on the "Download friendly URLs file" and publish this file to your site's root.
  • RSS improvements: you can now include a customized title, description and image for your blog to be displayed via RSS. To do so, access the content manager, go to General Settings and fill out the fields under the "RSS Configuration" section.
  • Lightbox effect for images: images with a lightbox effect overlay the current page when clicked on while displaying a shadowy effect. By placing the pointer over the image readers can browse the images gallery-like in full view. To set a lightbox effect, access your content manager, go to General Settings and check the "Enable lightbox for images" box. That simple!
  • General blog pimping: we gave the content manager a general face lift by refining some of the existing features. But I'd rather not ramble on about it and have you check it out for yourself! *wink wink*
We'll be adding some other new stuff but for now I think we can concentrate hardly on getting some full modules ready to launch. So come on, drop us a vote on our roadmap and tell us which modules you'd like to see first ... be nice, I just wrote this wrist-breaking post for you! :)

This is a short message to let you all know that we'll be temporarily restricting access to the content manager area (www.inseritcentral.com) today to upgrade it with a bunch of nice features. Don't worry, the closure won't last more than an hour.

Wait for my post later on today to get to know all the new features but as a sweet titbit ... do the words friendly URLs and lightbox effect sound familiar to you? :)

I'll keep you updated!

We've been working hard these last weeks to launch some cool improvements relating our free blog module and so I'm extremely proud to inform you that we'll be releasing them today.

As cool as that is I'm afraid that implies that all access to the content manager will be temporarily closed till we're done implementing the changes. Please bear with us, we promise you won't regret it!

So what's this whole thing about? Well, we've improved the blog configuration process hopefully making it even more intuitive than before.

Next time you access your account you'll notice some variations relating the side menu. We've improved the content manager's functionality by adding a templates section from where you'll be able to give a new look to your template as well as a direct link to view your blog. There's some more new stuff but I'd rather you checked it out for yourself.

Though our moms constantly remind us how perfect we are we know that's (partially) not true so any comments/suggestions are more than welcome. Please report any bug you encounter so we can smash its ugly and hairy rear.

And now that you're at it, drop a vote on our roadmap poll!

It's been a while since our last post and as a cure for our guilty souls we thought it'd be a cool idea if our users could get to know what's going on on our end (or mainly on our screens).

So we pulled out this awesome roadmap (*wink wink*) with all the tasks we're currently involved in. If you really really wanna make us happy please check it out (it's on the right side menu) and vote on the most important task/s for you... we'll mail you a pack of good vibs over to your place free of charge!

After all, we're working our bones off so that you get the 'bestest' features in the neighborhood.... did that make you feel bad enough to drop us a vote? Nah? Dang...

PS. Needless to say, the poll's been courtesy of polldaddy
